Government in Belgium resign, Dutch “state” television fails….

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

The government in Belgium resigned today, because they could not solve the issue about the election district BHV (Brussel-Halle-Vilvoorde). The French speaking part want that in this Dutch speaking election district people can vote for French speaking representatives. Of course this was news on the Dutch state television (NOS), but they made a major fail in their news item about this topic.  They showed a map of Belgium, which I show you here:

Nothing special you would say, but I am sure that some of my acquaintances from Belgium will laugh about this….The Dutch television thinks that the Province of West-Flanders (below in green) is part of Wallonia (the French speaking part of the country)…..

West-Flanders is part of Flanders and Dutch speaking, so the first map above is a fail. For a serious news channel I think such failures cannot be made, it is even about our neighbors!!! I have to admit the dialect of the people living in West-Flanders is difficult to understand for Dutch people, but it is certainly not French ;-)

Oh and for people from Komen / Comines, sorry I had no red paint anymore, but I know you are living in a French speaking enclave / Wallonia enclave between Flanders and France ;-)

Belgrade. The overhaul of Belgrade-Bar railway line will cost between EUR 200 and 300 million, Italferr announced, cited by Serbian Media S radio station.
The Italian company is working out the analysis on the project implementation and has to complete it by September. According to the company it is not necessary to revamp the entire line, but only some of its sections so that train speed could go up from the current 40 km/h to 100 km/h. The project aims at making the trip between Belgrade and Bar five hours at the longest, because the line is 450 km long and 7 million tons of products are transported on it every year.
The analyses made by other experts so far say the project would be worth some EUR 2 billion, the radio station says.

1 April 2010,FOCUS:Macedonia:Ohrid requires to be administratively governed, controlled from Sofia

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

SOURCE: http://www.focus-fen.net

Ohrid should be administratively governed and controlled from Sofia, since the local government finds no understanding from the central authorities in Macedonia, mayor of Ohrid Aco Petreski told FOCUS News Agency.
“I once referred to Bulgaria for help when the level of the water in the Ohrid Lake was increasing and the town was endangered by floods, but instead of receiving understanding and support from the government in Skopje, I met with criticism and accusations. That is why it would be better for Ohrid to be administratively governed and controlled from Sofia,” Petreski said.
The mayor of Ohrid added he was about to address Bulgarian Prime Minister General Boyko Borisov not only over the risks of flood.
“General Borisov shows willingness and decisiveness, which is often missing in Macedonia,” the mayor remarked.
“Only two interviews for Bulgarian media were enough and the Macedonian media had to turn their eyes on the problems and fears of Ohrid citizens. Macedonian ministers wouldn’t have come to Ohrid, if I had not said that I will wait for help from a neighboring country, which respects the antiquity and cultural heritage of Ohrid, since Skopje does not help and pay attention to us,” Aco Petreski commented.
The mayor of Ohrid reminded that a day after the publications that Sofia may provide help, the Macedonian Vecer newspaper, which is close to the government, published mocking collage, telling about a waterfall in the Ohrid Lake that has been built with the assistance of Sofia.
“Since they are laughing at us and bring accusations when we are taking case of town’s rescuing, it would be better for Ohrid to be administratively shifted within Sofia’s authorities, to pay taxes to Sofia and be sure that someone is taking care of us,” the mayor of Ohrid said.

Personal comment:
Hmmm, how we can do that ? And will Ohrid (OHD) then be part of E.U. ? How you do that with taxes, police, passports, corridors from OHD to Bulgaria (they already want one, the corridor From Varna to Durres, look here).

LOL dear readers of my blog:-) Look at the date :-) and look here, so sleep well! Tomorrow new day, new serious plans :-)

To Cologne

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Tomorrow I am going to Cologne and I am looking forward to it. A friend of me (Nicole) invited me and due a little miscommunication I did not understood that the plan was this weekend. Actually I did not had something special to do, so I decide let‘s go, because it was a wonderfull idea of my friend and what should keep me here?

Cologne is a very interesting ciy and with 995.420 inhabitants (31.12.2008) quite large. Hope to see and do some nice things, but I think that‘s gonna be allright. Have a nice Easter!
