Yes, finally I caught the thunder ;-)

One of the old box: Le soleil descend

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Museum of Communism

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Yes I stepped in the trap yesterday, because I could not resist to not visit the museum of communism. I could known it, because on the outside it looked already to commercial, to much a tourist trap and yes it was….

I payed 180 Czech krones, which is around 7 euro’s and that is a lot here in the Czech republic. What I got for it ? Just a couple of rooms which some things from the old communist days here and most of them were fake even. What I got more? A story about communist time in the Czech republic which was so narrow minded and without any depth: the museum could be a propaganda museum from the capitalist time during the cold war. No this is defintly not what I wanted to see:  It does also not really show respect to the victims of the communist system….

So save your 180 Krones (which can be 7 half litres of beer if you know the places) and don’t waste your time here, there are much more nicer museums in Prague, Veletržní palác for example, where I wrote earlier about.

Birthday

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Yesterday it was Lars his birthday so we had a small party (the big party is tomorrow). We went to the city (after I was waiting him in the beer garten of Vysehrad) and drunk some beers. Jovana (a Serbian friend from Praha) gave Lars a nice present: a wallet ! And now I will just visit the city and walk around and relax. This evening I will go to a Bosnian restaurant……

And here some pictures from yesterday…

Presevo valley

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

As you have noticed I am in Prague, but this does not prevent me to follow the news in the Balkans. And this time in the news: South-Serbia were I travelled through 1 1/2 month ago, when I went from Kraljevo to Skopje and back. I wrote about it earlier, please look back here under 18/02/2008: Balkan lesson number 1: the snowball-effect!

And yes when I read the blog of David-Jan, Dutch journalist in Belgrado, there were some incidents last week in the Presevo valley:
-Last sunday a police patrol was under fire: two Serb policemen were injured
-Last thuesday a bomb went of : two people were wounded ( the lady and son of an Albanian policemen)DSC_3218

In 2001 this area was the stage of violence between the Liberation Army of Preševo, Medveđa and Bujanovac (Albanian:Ushtria Çlirimtare e Preshevës, Medvegjës dhe BujanocitUCPMB) and the Serbian authorities. Aim of the UCPMB was association of this area to Kosovo (read more here on wikipedia).

So and now again incidents….. B92, a Serbian news agency, reported that the Serbian police chief Milorad Veljović have evidence that the police of Kosovo is involved in arms smuggling to this area. You can read the article here.

I personally hope it will stay by this incidents, because the last thing the region need is another conflict….To be continued , but hopefully not…..

Opatov

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Gare metro C,
gare bus,
immeubles en beton.

Attendre,
toujours attendre,
c’ est la vie.

Des gens qui passent,
des gens qui attend,
comme moi.

Rien speciale,
juste la vie
au gare d’ Opatov.

Opatov

Metro station C,
bus station,
concrete buildings.

Waiting,
always waiting,
that’s life.

People who pass,
people who wait,
just like me.

Nothing special,
just life
at the station of Opatov.
