No politics, no poetry, just animals : beautiful and funny enough.

Dutch TV about Serbia

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I saw the documentary from Paul Rosenmöller (former head of the Dutch Green Left party) “the borders of Europe ” and the last episode was about the Balkans.  David Jan Godfried journalist in Belgrado wrote a nice blog about it, please look here.Unfortunately it is only in DutchDSC_2458, but the moral of the story is: this documentary (link) was to narrow minded, to Anti Serbian.

It was about Bosnia/ Slovenia and Kosovo and with Kosovo you know there will be problems when you make a TV-documentary. It was stated that North Kosovo is the most criminal part of Europe, and yes in Northern Kosovo that is where the Serbs live. Hard-line Serbs were interviewed…. Come on, that is too easy.

The Serbs I know are just like you and me: they care about life, the latest gadgets, love, work, study, friends, family and they are far from nationalistic. Yes they are proud of their country, like you and me dear viewer (I am less and less proud I am coming from the Netherlands, but I am proud that I come from Europe).

Of course Rosenmöller could not interview a single ordinary Serb, which I met in dozens last month. His party, which should support peace, voted in favor of the NATO bombardments in 1999 on Serbia. You could travel across the borders of Europe, because of my tax money and make such kind of television, because this is the Netherlands.

I travelled along the borders of Europe and in two weeks I will do it again, with my own money, with the people I like and I will make my own judgment about it, I don’t need a highly subsidized program for that and especially not presented by a “salon socialist”.

I had discussions with my Serbian friends about the Dutch position against Serbia and I can tell you it is hard to explain the Dutch point of view in Serbia: at this moment the Netherlands is the only country (yes ok, with the support of Belgium) which blocks Serbia to join the SAA (Stabilisation and Association Agreements). The Netherlands blocks it, because they want first Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadžić  in The Hague and I told my Serbian friends that I think this is only because of the Dutch role in Srebrenica. BUT what we forget is the ethnic cleansing of Serbs in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo, think about that.  And the innocent victims of the Nato campaign in 1999. In a war both sides commit crimes, never forget that.

I will not dispute the role of the Dutch army in Srebrenica, because then I can write pages full, but it is ridiculous that my government make Serbia a hostage of two men. These kinds of TV-documentaries does not help to have a better image about Serbia, I hope I can….

Nuages qui emmènent mes rêves

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Flying with a Fokker F50 from the royal dutch air force

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Yesterday it was a familly day at the airforce base Gilze Rijen and I was invinted by my mother who works there. She arranged that I could join a flight with an F50 and that was really nice: enough space for your legs, no annoying security checks and a good view, because we did not fly that high. We flew above Zeeland and Rotterdam, it took one hour. Pictures I will put soon on my website of course, but here are some.

Sleep well!

En attendant

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Le temps passe en attendant quelque chose.
Malheureusement on doit attendre beaucoup

et tu m’as accompagné vers l’autre coté.

What swans shows humans

The result of their love is finished
because they give
life to three babies

Every three they swim
now in the lake
accompanied by their proud parents.

Their love will continue
and they are now also giving it
to their children.

The hectic life of humans around the lake will continue
as there is nothing changed, but the swans
have shown that true love exists.

Minsk-Belarus

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Hello everybody,

I go the 3th of July to Minsk with Masha. We have a stopover in Prague for 1 day and we will stay of course by Lars. A day later the plane of Czech airlines will bring us to Minsk in Belarus.  The tickets are booked, my free days arranged at work and now it is only waiting for my visa. The 15th of July I will return to Prague, with again a visit to Lars.

I am looking forward to this trip, it will be the third time this year that I will visit a country where I have never been (other countries were Bosnia Herzegovina and Montenegro), so that is not bad at all :-) But what is even even better is that this time I will be not alone,  because I will be Masha :-)

Tito ‘s railway

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Last monday I traveled from Kraljevo (Serbia) to Podgorica (Montenegro) by train on one of the most scenic railways in Europe. The railway Belgrade-Bar was planned and created by Tito, who wanted a railway line form Belgrade to the Adriatic coast and he succeeded…

Here a poem….now I go to sleep and dream about it, I am back in the Netherlands…
